How do you judge coop performance? Sure you can do all by rushing, but that doesn't make it good. Style can't be judged objectively, and certainly not without the training each clan has in place.
I was involved in a Co-op Tournement once, the scoring was tricky..
Points for Successful completion, points awarded for survivors, points deducted for team casualties etc...
Each Team was allowed to do the Map twice, and the Maps and Missions were only announced at the moment the Tournement Started...
Swat4 style point system? In RVS? Impossible!
Now let's bring out the beanbags, or is it autoshotties with taser catridges?
Oh, I think I got carried away... sounds fun though.
Here's some questions: will some kind of judge(s) have to spectate? Or does someone just take a screenshot at the end of a round? Team size restrictions (previous questions related to this)? Bonus points (pistol only, no tacaids, etc.)? I guess these questions will be covered by the tourney rules, but I'm just wondering out loud.
You could have something like a ladder, where you can have the top scores in various categories such as: 4-man teams, 5-man teams, and so on. Maybe one category could have a time limit to complete a certain objective, or all of them.
I know there's a lot of planning and work to be done with this, but I really hope it comes through.
Even in RL, SWAT Teams hold Demonstrations and speed tests against other SWAT Teams...
They score by Time, Hits on Target, effenciency, planning... :?
I would think a screenshot would suffice, on a server running PB..no real need for judges. Scores on Shot %, Targets killed, Mission Failure/Success, Casualties, and Time.
Screenshot of breifing could be used to determine winner.
So far it sounds like the same scoring system that one would use for an Adversarial Match without having to be the last team standing to get a technical win
What good is 8 men with 100% scores if the first hostage was rescued in 30 seconds, the second one in 3 minutes more even though he/she is very close by, and almost died in the process ?
Many of you are asking great questions. Keep in mind, I am not in charge of heading up the tournaments for BIA. I am just informing you guys to give you a heads up for the future.
To give you some insight to some of your questions:
- Screenshots would be used to evaluate performance and determine scoring. No judges will spectate.
- As of right now, we have two tournaments coming up; A visitor tournament, and then one with AGC Clan. So NF Cartel, you guys would probably be the second clan to tourney with us after AGC if all goes well.
- The tournament would consist of 2 teams, BIA vs. SAS. Each team will consist of 8 men.
- There would be like 3 maps total for the tournament. However, each team will not know about the 3rd map. It will be a suprise map. So for that map, your tactical and strategy skills must be at your best. The first 2 maps will be announced before the tournament so each team can practice them.
- Each team gets only 1 shot at each map. However, if there is a glitch, technical problem or defect, both teams may agree to restart that map. But it has to be a mutual agreement. BIA had to do this once.
Hope this explains some things. Remember, I am not in charge of tourneys for BIA. So some details may be slightly different when it comes to tourney time.
1/ would you penalise for less than 8 men attending? SAS work in 5's.
2/ we are talking co-op still?
3/ how would we know that your match was played fairly? I am not doubting you guys, just highlighting a possible flaw.
I think its great that a clan has taken the initiative to promote co-op play in RavenShield. We formulated a similar idea approx 2 years ago, but it never got off the ground, for various reasons.
If you work at it, and its a success, maybe we can point you in other directions..to like-minded clans that could participate and make it something bigger.
1. I'm assuming you can work in 5. However, you will want to finish the map as quickly as possible. You could use 8 men and split into 2 seperate units going through the map.
2. Yes, we are talking Co-Op.
3. BIA does not cheat. We do not hack. The way it would work is each team would take a screenshot upon completion of each map. In all reality as you said, we could use a previous screenshot from another day but as a Christian clan we do not cheat or hack or anything. And I assume you guys are pretty tight on that as well.
Well, I have one:
How do you judge coop performance? Sure you can do all by rushing, but that doesn't make it good. Style can't be judged objectively, and certainly not without the training each clan has in place.
Well here's how the scoring will basically work, of course this is just a brief explanation:
-As the SAS team, you would earn points
-The tournament is scored on a point system,
WHOEVER HAS THE MOST POINTS AT THE END WINS
-For example: -1pt for each missed shot, +100 pts for each person that gets 100% accuracy
-You will also earn points based on how quickly you finish a map
So basically, style is up to you but you must complete the map effectively and efficiently.
Hope this helps,

Anything can be turned into a Tournement....
Sounds reasonably basic, so far.
Please PM the actual rules to me. when you have finalised the system and have times and dates and stuff..
and we will see if we can rustle up a team.

Just wondering; How many other teams/clans are interested in this so far?
(IMO, it sounds like a great idea)

Good luck with it guys!
Yes, I agree Snipe.
Sounds like a cool idea to have such a tournament. With certain rules of course.
Its my understanding that SAS EVR is not a clan that actively takes part in tourneys.

Yeah, a Screenshot wouldn't really be required as the map name/file would be given shortly before executing the mission with your team.
So far it sounds like the same scoring system that one would use for an Adversarial Match without having to be the last team standing to get a technical win

God Bless,
So its really just a Competition....Co-Op Competition
(Even the Special Olympics is a Competition) 8O
Yes, it is a competition.
But it is also a Tournament, a Clan-tournament.
Sounds reasonably OK to me.
