Awarded for:
- exceptional and regular use of established tactics or SOPs
- advancement or refinement of a tactic or SOP that is adopted for general use
- achieving the rank of Cpl, Sgt, SSgt, SSM, RSM, or becoming a certified EL (element leader)
History:
The Mention in Dispatches is the oldest form of recognition of gallantry within the UK Armed Forces. Since 1993, the Mention in Dispatches has been reserved for gallantry during active operations.
